Artwork Description

In this latest abstract landscape, I’ve played with the beautiful contrast between the warm, earthy reds and ochres of the Australian Outback and the fresh greens of the land below. I love the way these colours work together, with the soft blue sky bringing a sense of openness and light to the painting. For me, it’s about capturing the character of this incredible country and the feeling I get from being surrounded by its raw, natural beauty.

As always, I’ve enjoyed letting loose with my brushwork and adding those spontaneous scribbles, marks and little details that give the work its own personality. I haven’t wanted to capture every detail of a particular place, but rather the energy and feeling of the landscape as I see it. There’s a lovely sense of movement and freedom in this piece, and I hope the rich colours and expressive marks bring a little of that unmistakable Australian spirit into someone’s home.
The canvas is an original piece and comes with d rings and wire ready to hang. The piece is UNFRAMED. Sides are painted in a crisp white to set off the artwork. The work is created in acrylic paint. All work has been sealed and varnished for protection

Artist Bio

Carolyne Jane
THE BLOCK ARTIST - 2024, 2025 and 2026

I was absolutely thrilled that House 4, Sev and Courtney selected my work Beachside - the Impatient Sea for their guest Bedroom in the this years 2026 series of THE BLOCK - Mt Eliza.
Last year two of my works were again selected to feature in the THE BLOCK in Daylesford 2025 and the previous year in THE BLOCK Phillip Island 2024! It is an incredible honour to be part of such a well-loved show, and I can’t begin to express how exciting it was to see my art displayed every night during contestant interviews.

I am an abstract artist and I find incredible inspiration from the rocks and sea around Phillip Island. I am very drawn to the changing colours of the sea and the beautiful colours of the red rocks and natural diversity of the island which often tend to end up being the main subjects for my art. I have a real passion for colour and enjoy experimenting with the use of different colour combinations to create my work.

My works are totally intuitive and I pour all my energy, passion and emotion into each unique piece I create. My works are mainly acrylic with some mixed media of charcoal and pastel and I adore painting on big canvases.

My artistic Journey originally saw me working with oils creating contemporary seascapes but as my art evolved I found myself wanting to really let go and create from within. I love being able to create from something as simple as a mark on paper or a thought and let the canvas tell me what it wants.

Lately I’ve found myself going a bit wild with my brushstrokes as the crazy madness of creating takes over. My passion is colour and I love experimenting with different colour palettes which keeps my works interesting and exciting. I truely am on a journey of exploration with my work.
