With Outback Intense I’ve brought together the raw, earthy character of the Australian outback with a composition of deep, moody darks and bursts of brilliant light. The rich burnt oranges, ochres and earthy browns create a sense of heat and vastness, while the flashes of luminous yellow and green bring the landscape alive. I love the contrast between the weight and stillness of the darker areas and those unexpected moments of brightness that seem to catch the sun.
With this work I wanted to capture the feeling of standing within that vast landscape rather than simply depicting a particular place. Loose marks, layered textures and spontaneous strokes allow the landscape to emerge and disappear across the surface, giving it an almost dreamlike quality. For me, it’s about the energy of the outback raw, sunburnt and powerful, yet full of colour and life
The canvas is an original piece and comes with d rings and wire ready to hang. The piece is UNFRAMED. Sides are are painted in a crisp white to set off the artwork. The work is created in acrylic paint. All work has been sealed and varnished for protection
