Artwork Description

There’s a quiet nostalgia in the salt-stained boards of the beach huts and the gentle lean of the palm trees. Seaside Memories captures that timeless feeling of summers by the sea — sun-bleached afternoons, the laughter of children racing along the jetty, and the sway of small boats anchored in turquoise waters. The painting holds a dreamlike softness, as if recalled from memory rather than witnessed in the present. It invites the viewer to linger, to remember their own seaside stories — the warmth of sand, the scent of salt, and the joy of simplicity.

Artist Bio

My love of the tropics was instant after arriving in Far North Queensland in the late 1970's as an 18 year old, after a childhood spent in busy Sydney. I pedalled my pushbike up the east coast and came across Mission Beach after working on the banana farms in Tully. I was spellbound by the wonderland of plants, animals, fish, ocean, cassowaries and birds of this tropical paradise . I hoped that one day this could be home….It was. Moving here permanently in 1995.
My paintings come from my love of this place that has always held my heart, often depicting a little nostalgia of the good old days when sugarcane burnt in the season and a pub stood on every corner in town.
I hope you enjoy my collection of original paintings inspired by my beautiful surroundings at my studio in Mission Beach Nth Qld.
