Bedrock - Framed in Oak

This painting has mid century and coastal influences. Large and bold, it has a minimal abstract style, with 12 repeated pebbles made with multiple layers and a block out technique. The primary colour is a rich blue in watery textured finish, finished with a heavily layered and textured neutral background tone and a rich natural oak floating frame that helps it jump out from the wall. Frame made locally in Reservoir.

The relationships between colours, the randomness of nature, the necessity of negative space to create balance & harmony (both visually and psychologically) inspires my art.
My paintings are reflective of myself in that I have an expressive, more creative nature that I balance with a reserved and sometimes introverted side.
Each painting I make is intuitive and the colours used will often simply reflect my current mood - all being a joyful & therapeutic practice.
