This piece, Grounded Spirit, was inspired by a deep sense of connection to Country and the grounding strength it provides. As a Biripi woman, I often paint from memory — the warm earth underfoot, the ochres in the soil, and the stories that live within the land itself. The circular forms in this artwork represent gathering places, ancestors, and the moments where our spirits reconnect and settle.
While creating this piece, I wanted to honour that feeling of being held and supported by Country. Each layer of dots is like a heartbeat, a reminder of the old people who walked before us and continue to guide us. The warm tones reflect the comfort, stability, and calm that comes from being grounded — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
In a home or workspace, this artwork lifts the room by bringing a sense of warmth and steadiness. The earthy palette creates a peaceful atmosphere, while the flowing circular patterns add movement and life. It’s a piece that invites reflection, balance, and connection — a gentle reminder to slow down and return to yourself.
