The Voyage (Framed)

Inspired by the nostalgia of childhood.

This painting was built up layer by layer in oils, working from a monochromatic under-painting through to delicately applied layers of colour and fine detail. This piece has been a labour of love, and brings a sense of tranquility now that I can sit and enjoy it, reminiscing about days gone by and the freedom of running around playing make-believe.

Framed in a handmade raw Tasmanian Oak float frame which complements the flesh tones of the subject, the canvas is equipped with a wire and ready to hang.

Casey Thornton is a figurative realist oil painter from regional Western Australia, with a keen interest in the techniques used by the old masters. Her keenly observed and highly detailed works aim to capture an authentic representation of the world, and invite a quiet moment of pause, introspection and welcome respite from a constantly ‘switched on’ world.

Thornton studied a Bachelor of Humanities (Fine Art) at Curtin University, and in recent years has studied at The Art Academy in Adelaide. Her artworks are held in private collections across Australia and overseas, and one piece has been selected for inclusion in ‘The Nova Collection’ lunar time capsule.
