Cătălin Anastase, a Sydney-based artist, employs unconventional light sources to craft images that carve new shapes in the darkness.
Influenced by his artist father and experiences in performing arts, Cătălin's dramatic style,
"The artist and the subject are instantly connected through a beam of light, revealing the essence of the face or body and creating the story."
Emphasizing the importance of art in people's lives, he believes that amidst busy schedules, true happiness arises when individuals make time for artistic pursuits. Cătălin finds inspiration in studying facial expressions, body language, and abstract shapes, highlighting the extraordinary stories that can emerge from ordinary elements.
Cătălin's compelling interpretation within this aesthetic was shaped by his experience in the performing arts, where he served as an actor, puppeteer, and director, graduating UNATC - National Drama and Cinematography, Bucharest, Romania in 1996.
Having arrived in Australia nearly two decades ago, Cătălin continues his journey of self-discovery and beauty celebration through extensive travels and exhibitions, experimenting in the world of fine art.
