Inside the Quiet Zone

Inside the Quiet Zone portrays an inviting blend of modern and retro with bold furniture and geometric patterns, offering a sense of calm.

The inspiration for the work was my love for mid century and retro furniture. I also have a fascination for breeze blocks which are a common feature of houses built in the 1950’s - 1970’s.

The colour palette of vivid blue, orange, red, green and brown complement the retro theme perfectly.

Cath Michael is an emerging artist based in Brisbane. She is a lover of nostalgia and has a particular interest in Mid Century Modern, Vintage and Retro styles. Growing up with a mother who was a high school art teacher, Cath was exposed to various artistic practices including interior and fashion design as well as painting.

After stepping away from a long finance career due to illness, she returned to her creative roots and began painting seriously.

Her work features still life, vintage treasures and mid century furniture. Drawing inspiration from sentimental objects and cherished memories, her paintings evoke a sense of warmth and longing for times when life was much simpler.

Cath’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries both locally in Queensland and interstate, gaining recognition for their nostalgic charm and timeless appeal.
