Thai Orchid with Denim Ikat

Inspired by a gorgeous Thai orchid that I purchased from my local markets.

Pairing my signature denim vase with traditional Ikat fabric gives this orchid painting a contemporary twist, while remaining true to its roots.

The process of creating Ikat fabric is a century old tradition. Made from silk and hand woven by Thai artisans, the patterns are typically colourful and vibrant, capturing the culture and beauty of Thailand.

It comes framed in Tasmanian oak and is ready to hang in your space with wire and D rings fixed on the back. Also comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Cath Michael is an emerging artist based in Brisbane. She is a lover of nostalgia and has a particular interest in Mid Century Modern, Vintage and Retro styles. Growing up with a mother who was a high school art teacher, Cath was exposed to various artistic practices including interior and fashion design as well as painting.

After stepping away from a long finance career due to illness, she returned to her creative roots and began painting seriously.

Her work features still life, vintage treasures and mid century furniture. Drawing inspiration from sentimental objects and cherished memories, her paintings evoke a sense of warmth and longing for times when life was much simpler.

Cath’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries both locally in Queensland and interstate, gaining recognition for their nostalgic charm and timeless appeal.
