Having spent 15 years working in interior architecture and graphic design I had reached the level of senior graphic web designer. In my down time, it was a necessary creative outlet for me to start painting. Ten years later it is still my passion and I consider myself lucky to now paint full time.
My natural inclination for chaotic detail within a defined structure has influenced my semi–abstract painting style. I draw inspiration from natural forms of plants, hills, trees and rocks, from both memory and imagined. I'm also inspired by the architectural elements in my daily landscape and distilling them into a series of interlocking compositions. Colour, however is the key to everything for me and establishing a colour palette for each new work is my favourite part of the creative process.
I am interested in the brush techniques of both Australian Indigenous artists, post WW2 British abstract painters and the Pointillists. My paintings also reference my fascination with Japanese textile design.
