An aerial view of Lonsdale Street in Melbourne, Victoria. The variations in pattern are designed to reflect the hustle and bustle of a busy city street on a weekday morning. The challenge with this work was to make the ordinary, possibly even the mundane, become beautiful and interesting. The delivery trucks, the traffic jams, the bins out for collection, the crowds of pedestrians rushing to work, all taking place on the street below. Gold metallic paint was added as a highlight colour to catch the light at certain times of day as the sun moves across the room. It represents the little things in each day that make it all worth it.
Painted with bold, thick brush strokes on quality canvas, hooks and wires on the back, it is ready to hang. The sides are painted in thicks coats of antique white, so there is no need to frame.
