“Somehow in the suburbs of my childhood I grew up utterly starved of visual art. Thankfully once I made it to high school the doors flung open and Art walked in. The gravely mundane turned into the sublime or thereabouts. Life became more than bearable. I became like a dog of Art – intensely loyal.”
Catherine Zimdahl’s abstract paintings are an attempt to find those ‘oceanic moments’ where time is lost and the tumult of the mind is harvested.
She wants to create expansive beauty. She wants art to be a secular sacred space.
As expected she believes Art is at war with the ordinary.
Resolution:Sublimate is her an ongoing series of abstracts concerned with chaos and beauty.
