Copperfields on Turquoise

I really enjoyed creating this piece, which is the fifth of this series. I used some beautiful copper thread, ( that I have been holding onto for the right moment.) and a combination of different mediums, including collage. The textures are really lucious and the turquoise and earthy brown and copper work really well together. This piece has a lovely rustic feel about it.
About the series....
I have to confess that for many years, I was one of those people who never quite "got" the 'Colour Field,' artworks, that often take pride of place in galleries. Mostly painted on huge canvases, with no real content to speak of, the artist concentrating mainly on colour and texture .
A few years ago, I was encouraged to look into this style of art and I have to say that I think it's quite misunderstood. Appearing simple, until you actually have a go at creating a piece and realise it's quite the opposite. I am currently in the process of painting a series in this style and I am thoroughly enjoying the challenge. Realizing that not all homes have large wall spaces, I have purposely chosen small to mid sized canvases, whose content relate to each other, which I think can still make a contemporary space pop!

Additionally, her creations have been showcased in Australian productions such as *The Bureau of Magical Things* and the 2023 ABC series *In Limbo*.

Throughout her career, Cathy has generously donated many of her pieces to support various charitable causes. These include the Leukemia Foundation, the Breast Cancer Foundation, Save Lives Donate Organs Inc., IWaG I Want a Greyhound Inc., Greyhound Rehoming, and the Incognito nonprofit organization.
