Artwork Description

Tranquille setting on a beach while low tide. Perfect sunny summer days always makes people happy. I felt relaxed and happy creating this artwork using a soft light colour palette of blue and mauve. I used Daniel Smith artist paints on smooth acid free 100% cotton Boahong paper.

Artist Bio

Cathy Raso’s artistic journey began back in 1997 in Melbourne’s inner-city suburb of Murrumbeena. Her first projects involved painting props and backdrops for local primary school concerts, followed by donating framed artworks to help raise school funds. This early community connection sparked a lifelong love for creating. Cathy works with soft pastels on textured paper, watercolours, and acrylics on canvas. She loves to experiment by pairing soft textures with bold, daring colours. Her ultimate goal is always about “capturing a moment”—whether that is the elegant pirouette of a ballet dancer or the delicate reflection in a puddle. By exploring the play between light, shadow, and perspective, she brings a sense of mood, depth, and emotion to every piece.Driven by an endless curiosity, Cathy is always looking for new ways to tell stories through her art. As she puts it: "Being an artist is the same as being infinitely curious. I think I have found a way to dive beneath the surface and say something that feels true, with space to explore." And today, she is still happily exploring!
