Artwork Description

This painting began on an evening walk when I noticed how the garden transforms in that brief window between sunset and dark — the hour photographers call blue hour. Colours shift, shadows deepen, and what was ordinary becomes luminous. The gold you see is real — flecks of glitter caught in the paint, the way last light catches a leaf. Nature doesn't stop being beautiful when the sun goes down. She just changes the conversation. 12x16". Ready to hang. Frame not included.

Artist Bio

Cathy Schultz is a Perth-based contemporary artist with over 30 years’ experience across painting, photography, digital art and mixed media. Her digital practice begins with her own photography, which she transforms through digital manipulation, layering, colour and mark-making to create distinctive contemporary artworks.

Alongside her digital work, Cathy paints predominately in acrylics and spray paints, sometimes working in oils.

Inspired by the natural world, Cathy is drawn to organic forms, colour, texture and the unexpected possibilities that emerge through experimentation. Her work moves fluidly between traditional and digital processes, with each artwork evolving through an intuitive and exploratory approach.

Based in her Gwelup studio, Cathy continues to explore the relationship between photography, digital art and contemporary visual expression.
