Artwork Description

This is a Limited edition print of a painting. This is a painting of one of a few baby kookaburras native to my home town that I used to feed and was able to stroke. There are large colonies of kookaburras that live at Rathmines on beautiful Lake Macquarie.

Artist Bio

Carolyn Parkinson is a skilled and versatile artist specializing in landscapes, portraits, and abstract works, using acrylics, pastels, and watercolor. With a diverse professional background spanning banking, adult education, local government, event management, and radio station management, she brings a wealth of experience and perspective to her creative practice.

Coming from a family with a strong artistic heritage, Carolyn’s great-grandmother was both an artist and the first in her family to immigrate from Great Britain in the 1800s. Many of her descendants have since become accomplished artists, continuing the family’s creative legacy.

Raised in the Blue Mountains, Carolyn developed a deep appreciation for nature, spending much of her childhood bushwalking and exploring the vast landscapes of the Grose Valley. This love for the natural world is reflected in her art, particularly in her depictions of birds, wildlife, and scenic landscapes.

Now based in the picturesque Lake Macquarie region, Carolyn draws inspiration from her surroundings and has sold numerous paintings capturing the beauty of the lake and its ever-changing vistas.
