Vivacious Vase

'Vivacious Vase', original painting by Cecilia Bell.

I was inspired by light falling on a glass vase in my studio.

I honestly don't know what kind of flowers I painted; they were from my imagination! 

In my still life paintings of flowers, I do not aim to replicate nature, only to evoke positive feelings, such as happiness, hope or serenity.

The flowers contain elements of mid century modern painting, using stylised shapes without extraneous detail.
