Deep blues, washes of whites and greys flow amongst the swell of waves across the page. The collaged and painterly layers of blues and whites captivate us with their rhythmic forms. We become lost and surrender to the force and beauty of the sea. Flowing and rhythmic shades of warm blues and browns softly undulate down the page. This piece layers ink over ink, with beautiful rich textures and depths of tone. This artwork was inspired by my travels to France and Italy and the beautiful mountainous landscapes. My flowing ink style and love of capturing the land, sky and sea has now shifted to also explore an array of colourful strokes built up and blended with oil pastel. This new invigoration of style has been heavily influenced by my explorations of the works of Monet, Vangogh and the impressionists. The work captures my impressions of the beauty of the kaleidoscope of colours cast at dusk upon the landscape.
