This impressionist still life is inspired by my grandfather’s garden in southern Germany — a place he tended with great devotion. One summer he gathered a handful of his favourite blooms — maroon gerberas, soft pink flowers, wild blossoms, nasturtiums and fresh greens — and placed them in an aqua vase. That simple, thoughtful gesture became the heart of this painting.
The artwork celebrates the beauty of a cared-for garden, the quiet bond between generations, and the joy of bringing nature indoors. Like a bouquet that never fades, it fills a room with colour, warmth and an uplifting sense of life.
Oil on stretched canvas.
