Artwork Description

In this series, Charles explores a deep connection to the Australian landscape, drawn to three defining elements: expansive skies, vast land, and the enduring presence of gum trees. Working in a landscape impressionist style with bold, expressive colour, he captures the heat, light and atmosphere that shape the country’s character. The works speak to space and resilience — endless horizons, grounding terrain, and gum trees standing steadfast within it all.

This artwork has been painted with many layers of professional quality acrylic paint and medium to give it depth and richness. It has been framed using a high quality Tasmanian oak. The painting has been signed on the back.

Artist Bio

Charles Hebert has been painting for over 25 years and is a self-taught artist. He moved from Canada to Sydney in 2004 and around that time, he began having solo and group shows and also appeared as a finalist in some art prizes. His medium of choice has always been oil on canvas. He started with smaller canvases and now truly enjoys working with large canvases as he finds he can express himself better and his artworks translate more effectively on a larger scale. His artworks are heavily layered in order to achieve a higher level of depth, richness and energy.

Charles has a strong passion for visual arts. Art is how he communicates without words his deepest thoughts and strongest emotions. The works that he creates are derived from personal experiences and interests. He is inspired by architecture and the Australian landscape.
