Artwork Description

As part of my project on growing up. I painted the Polaroid as an attribution to the collection of memories I have of things that were part of my life in developing as a Deaf child and the many photos taken of me with my mum and teachers of the Deaf when they took me on excursions and did projects with me. The dots under the camera are the memory of seeing a row of dots on white paper just before each film was inserted into the camera and the output that showed those dots. I always loved colour and they were one of the things that attracted my eye. I have many items over the years that attribute to the life of memories and making my childhood fun that I'm painting on wood that acts as a metaphore for the solidness of my happy childhood memories.

Artist Bio

I'm a Deaf artist, born in and living back in Melbourne after a number of years in Adelaide, South Australia. I have been practicing my arts for 18 years and exhibiting for the last decade and most recently as an international artist in Europe.

I work with watercolour, ink, gouache and mixed media to communicate my stories, transcribing perceptions of the world today and way back many thousands of years ago. Some of my works also focus on preserving history of places around local areas and afar, often on request of others and those works convey in my style of the places I paint. Sometimes, for a lighthearted comment, I paint a volkswagen adventure or doggy adventure to entertain and bring a smile to people's faces.

My studio is open for visits, so contact me to organise a studio visit. My studio is located 2 hours outside of Melbourne, but I am able to have studio visits in the city during the week in business hours between 10 am and 5 pm, and I require at least 24 hours notice on city visits.

I am starting to move towards working with acrylic and oils on abstract and semi-abstracts as well as imagery with evolved ideas and 2019 will bring new works that sees evolution in my works.
