Chelsey Teale is an Australian based artist currently living in Sydney, originally born and raised in California. Chelsey has been creating mixed media art in an attempt to capture a sense of flow and movement within her paintings. Her current work would fall under abstract expressionism mixed in with minimalism. Specialising in non traditional painting methods and straying away from using any strict guidelines on how the paintings should turn out, rather trusting the movement and flow of the medium. Her approach to her art is completely intuitive and comes from with in, which makes her pieces feel authentic and original.
‘I try and create artworks that are eye catching with bold components all the while maintains a sense of flow. I love producing pieces that encourage individuals to have their own unique experience within the painting. The art process is therapeutic and meditative and attempts to portray anything from minimal and earthy to bold and psychedelic. I'm trying to create new textures and movement that make you see and feel how the piece was made. You almost want to touch them. I want to strip it down, while at the same time enhancing all the mediums on the canvas to make something great. Its a fun challenge trying to create a balanced piece. Something bold, yet simple. Something minimal, yet crazy. I want to create a connection between you and the piece.'
