I am from the old school. Hence I like traditional art even though this art form has lost some of its appeal with the younger generation. I paint realistically without being photo-realistic, much as I enjoy the works of photo-realism artists like Nathan Walsh and Raphaella Spence. Each of my paintings has clear lifelike features, be it a bustling city or street scene, idle boats in the waiting, rain or sunshine, sunrise or sunset, or just nature at its idyllic best. Impressionism helps me capture a mood from varying the colours, composition, and selective blurring . Details naturally are obtained from real life to reflect actual scenes and everyday experiences but are modified for artistic appeal...I use a wide range of resources and photographs that I take on my trips.. mixing and combining details freely to achieve the desired result . Rarely does one photograph capture all the elements for a worthwhile painting.I generally like busy scenes- with lots of details which some artists denounce as 'noise', be they trees, rocks, shrubbery, people engaged in all sorts of activities, boats, cars, trams, buildings or just cloud formations, waves etc...blending them to create a pleasing composition, harmonizing or contrasting their sizes, visual perspective, light and shade, the use of different colour hues, tones and values, provide me with endless room for challenging creative imagery and adventure.I enjoy painting. It is an unending journey in expression and creativity..and learning about the infinite possibilities in creating better and better pieces of art .. I hope viewers will enjoy my work as much as I have in creating them.I have donated many pieces of my work for charity fund raising etc. The pleasure I derive from painting is enhanced if you also like what I do.
