Artwork Description

Having an acting background has influenced me heavily. Whether that is through my interest in emotion and the sitter’s history, or the influence of prominent actors within Australia.
I wanted to portray Ruth as a type of Saint or Queen, as her journey influenced me greatly and she is a Queen of Australian theatre. I also utilised shapes and textures as a hint to Shakespearean costumes and the rich, royal colours of the stage.

Cherie works with multiple mediums, creating intuitively in order to see where the marks take her.
Predominantly working on abstracts and portraiture, Cherie fuses her love of vibrant colour and celebrating strong female figures. She utilises art making as a meditation tool and a way to tap into her inner self.
