Cheryl Ford is a self-taught artist who enjoys working across a variety of mediums including coloured and watercolour pencils, pastels, mixed media, acrylics, watercolour and oils.
Originally born in Mullumbimby, Cheryl lived in Sydney for 25 years and spent 12 years in Townsville, before relocating to Wellington Point in 2003. Growing up, Cheryl was a talented athlete and horsewoman, expressing her creativity through painting, drawing and craft from a young age. Her love for animals and nature are often reflected in her pieces, particularly her passion for drawing horses.
Cheryl was not always able to pursue her artistic endeavours due to work and family commitments. Early retirement provided the opportunity for her to hone in on her existing skillset and explore a range of new mediums. Cheryl also loves repurposing old furniture and creating beautiful coloured foliage gardens as another form of art.
Cheryl enjoys painting and drawing landscapes, seascapes, animal portraits, equine art and fluid pour art. Cheryl takes inspiration from the beauty of this amazing country and its flora and fauna. Cheryl finds the making of art to be relaxing and rewarding but also challenging. This drives her to continue to develop and improve her art practice.
Cheryl takes commissions for portraits of pets, but will consider any type of commission. You can browse Cheryl’s art on Instagram: @cherylfordart
