Ches has a cosy studio in Kallista amidst the beautiful Dandenong Ranges. The view of the Yarra Valley and Warburton Ranges never ceases to inspire and delight her. Ches has always wanted to paint and over the years squeezed what time she could to do so while being a mum of three and a teacher. Now that she has retired she is enjoying having more time to follow her dreams.
Ches enjoys painting with acrylics, ink and gouache both on canvas and paper. These vary from very small to large canvases. Ches has exhibited widely in Australia and also overseas. She has also enjoyed being part of the Dandenong Ranges Open studios program for many years.
Ches finds inspiration from the natural environment, currently her focus is the ocean , her favourite place to be. She creates intuitive interpretations of the ocean and its environs with its ever changing and delightful moods, atmospheres, textures, ,colours, formations and life forms within. She especially enjoys creating detail with a very small brush to portray the forms and textures of rocks, coral, sea plants, etc.. Ches is very concerned about the deterioration of our coral reefs and through her current work is trying to emphasise the urgent need to protect them.
