Venice Beyond the crowd

Autumn 2024. Venice, beautiful but crowded, as expected.
Taking a short break from the masses, then suddenly drawn to a deep, narrow alley. With GMaps in hand, decided to wander in. Found a whole labyrinth of winding paths, bridges, and canals hidden behind the main 'città vetrina' (display city). It felt like a different Venice.
Still beautiful, but quiet. Only a few locals appearing and disappearing into the alleys, and a couple of curious tourists lost just like me.
Standing there, staring at the view, when a gentleman in Renaissance costume suddenly crossed the bridge and vanished behind a small door. For a second, I felt a shiver, thinking I had slipped back hundreds of years.
So, had to paint it...
