Artwork Description

'Big Sigh' is a contemporary abstract piece by Melbourne artist, Chloé Newby.

A piece that is soft and bold all at once. Balancing big energy and texture with a gracefulness that is harboured by the softer hues. This creative practice (painting) acts, at times, like a 'big sigh' in response to the current social climate and call to be present. It's at the easel, amongst colour and so often in solitude that one finds the space to breathe deeply and appreciate all they are grateful for.

Artist Bio

Contemporary Melbourne artist, Chloé, explores her art practice as an expression of being. Of pensive thoughts, feelings, meditation and contemplation artfully balanced on canvas.

Whilst I'm mainly pushing abstractions around a canvas, there's always room for the occasional portrait or two, too. With my signature textural approach to application and love for balancing the nuances of colour – paintbrush in hand, I let my intuition lead the way!

“Each piece is a reflection of me, at that moment, with the title almost always hinting to the viewer the elusive state of mind in space and time. The energy each piece omits is a result of the accompanying music, thoughts or therapeutic stillness and solace found in studio as they came to life.“
