Artwork Description

This ancient landscape; rich with native bush and fresh water flowing within panninher and letteremairrener country continues to be a primary source for exploration. When passing through the bushland along the Kanamaluka Tamar River I am released from linear time and immerse myself in the textures, tones and energy of this landscape, the mark making becomes an extension of my experience. A visual translation of the tracks, the rocks, native scrubland and surrounding bushland creates and informs my memory of it. When I walk through this place familiar as it ever was, I find consolation and comfort in portraying it. Painting has offered a quiet contemplation; a refuge in understanding the intangible.

Artist Bio

Chloe is an emerging artist making abstract works inspired by the Tasmanian landscape. Her work is motivated by and reflects both the vastness and intimacy of place. Growing up along Kanamaluka/Tamer River has provided an endless source for artistic exploration. While the landscapes of my childhood occur frequently I am also drawn to various landscapes across Lutruwita including the southern coastline and the majestic beauty of Kunanyi Mt. Wellington above Nipaluna Hobart where I am currently based.
.
I work in both Acrylic on canvas or wood panel and Gouache on paper.
