Knowing the Mountain

Kunanyi Mt Wellingtin is a unique landscape. The altitude, topography, climate and and vegetation are the focus of this work. The mountain is one of Tasmania's richest native flora sites. The vast range of plants allows for an exploration of the structures and patterns that can be found there. Despite its popularity as a place to visit it can simultaneously feel like a place of intimacy and sparse solitude.

Chloe is an emerging artist making abstract works inspired by the Tasmanian landscape. Her work is motivated by and reflects both the vastness and intimacy of place. Growing up along Kanamaluka/Tamer River has provided an endless source for artistic exploration. While the landscapes of my childhood occur frequently I am also drawn to various landscapes across Lutruwita including the southern coastline and the majestic beauty of Kunanyi Mt. Wellington above Nipaluna Hobart where I am currently based.
