Abstract work is largely intuitive and therefore, it is not always possible to describe the inspiration in detail. It is much more to do with mood, state of mind, and the level of access to the subconscious mind and to the heart.
When you look at one of my abstract paintings, you are looking at my state of mind and my deepest intuitive expression at a moment in time. It is my wish to share this, and I hope that it resonates with you at a level that is beyond the intellect.
My work is guided by the subconscious, by emotion, and by heart energy.
Texture is important in my paintings but I will not allow it to overwhelm and become the content. At every moment of creation I endeavour to find the balance between conscious mark-making and the spontaneous, intuitive, subconscious expression.
Therefore many of my paintings employ heavy layering, paralleling the waves of inspiration that surge and wane like the tide. Each layer of paint has to have a relationship with the former layer, yet at the same time give the next layer something to work with. Eventually what emerges is a collection of layers of my consciousness, expressed and caught in the movement of paint laid down by my brush strokes.
If sold through a physical gallery, this painting, which has been exhibited once in 2020 in Singapore, would have the retail price of A$5000 before GST and associated costs.
This painting is ready to hang and does not require framing, as the paint extends to the edges. This is because I do most of my large paintings before the canvas is stretched. All my canvases are stretched by professional framers.
Thank you for your interest, and if you would like to know more about my work, how I create art, my thinking process, or this and any of my other work, it would be my pleasure to answer your questions. Just drop me a message.
