Ocean pools seem to encapsulate something uniquely Australian, speaking to a love of sun and sea.

I became interested in their different forms- walls, rails and steps blend with rock to create a kind of frame around a small corner of the ocean, in a meeting of architecture and nature.

This image is part of a series in which I aimed to capture the uniqueness of each pool.

Size includes 5cm white border

What started as a personal project photographing ocean pools along Australia's coastline became the seeds for Chris's first book *Ocean Pools* (published by Thames and Hudson in 2022).
