Artwork Description

Abstract, impressionist painting, full of movement in beautiful warm hues. Vibrant and bright, this is bound to be a conversation piece.
I am heavily influenced presently, in seeing abstract images in magnified objects and works in and around my beach location studio. An exercise in 'reduction' and 'amplification'.

Acrylic Paint on canvas, stretched and ready to hang to your preferred orientation (spin it any way you like, just let me know). If you love this style but the size doesn't suit, I'm happy to create a similar piece in the required size.

Signed on the front bottom right, once you tell me your preferred orientation.
This artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Artist Bio

“A picture is worth a thousand words”… it’s so true! I believe when we view a piece of art, it talks to us. Usually what it says is immediate. You either love it or you don’t. One person’s pleasure is another person’s pain. Variety and conflicting opinions… that’s what makes art and life so interesting.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I love to paint and to explore this beautiful modality in visually unusual and varied ways. I see imagined characters, worlds and stories in the enlarged view of the patterns and textures of naturally occurring objects and creative images.

I have been involved with art for as long as I can remember. As a child I drew and drew and drew and became lost in the world that creativity offered. I would see faces, objects and scenes in the patterns of wood grain, fire, rocks and clouds. Even portions of the living room carpet held a host of unusual yet vivid creations.

I studied art as a secondary and tertiary student working in many mediums. I loved to paint and I loved to design. I wanted to be a Graphic Designer but became an art teacher quite by chance. I taught art to primary and secondary students for eight years and later transitioned into teaching tertiary and adult classes in computer graphics. I left the comfort of teaching to be self employed as a graphic designer. For the majority of this fifteen-year stint, I designed characters, animations and illustrated theme panels for multiple gaming machine manufactures world-wide.

Since 2015, I have gone back to teaching painting part-time to mostly middle-aged adults, who haven’t painted since their school days. I guess you could say I have a gift for this. After just one three-hour session, I send my clients home with a finished painting and a huge smile on their faces. They would often ask me “Where are your paintings?” To which I would answer “I don’t have time to paint!”

So now, after providing many people with the gift of creativity, I have decided to get on with it. I have decided to paint. I hope you enjoy my collections, which I will add to over time. If you see something you like but would prefer a different colour scheme or size, just let me know and we can work together to satisfy your individual needs.

Bird-poop - Series
My dirty little secret… Since 2016, I have become fascinated with the shapes and patterns found in, well… bird poop. Yep, seriously… bird poop! As mentioned, I have always been intrigued by the images my mind sees in patterns and textures. Well, bird poop has become my new obsession. And to date I have photos of over 2,000 really interesting bird poop patterns. Not just any bird poop mind you. I have standards. I judge what I decide to photograph based on the following criteria: 1. Size – sometimes I just can’t believe the size of what I see. The bigger the better. 2. Colour – generally I choose a vivid white, with the occasional coloured poop. 3. Shape – very important! It’s the shape/s that speak to me. If I immediately see an image or the makings of an interesting abstract creature, I know I’m on to a winner. Seriously, the way a bird poop hits the ground and splatters and the patterns it creates, I find absolutely intriguing.

Seeing the abstract in enlarged views of objects and works or art in and around my beach location art studio. Are you seeing what I'm seeing?

So, if a picture is worth a thousand words… then I hope my paintings talk to you.
