Sun Flowers and Sweet Peas

I love painting in gardens. This beautiful garden is in Ireland, where the light is subtle and the colours are soft. It is great to paint outdoors, when the weather is so perfect. I love the deep green under colours and the vivid pale blue sky. The sunflowers are fantastic to paint as they have so much character and move by the sun. The magentas, pinks and violets of the sweet peas really pop out next to the greens. It was a joyful time making the artwork. The swiftly applied brush strokes are in an impressionistic style, which makes the picture so fresh and lively. It will brighten up any corner of your home.
