Sculpture on wood

Uprooted is my series of gastropod creatures. These forms reflect the beauty of seashells, perfectly spiralled and evolved millions of years ago. All chainsaw-carved from reclaimed and upcycled timbers that either floated downriver after the last Tweed River flood earlier this year or else plucked from farmers and land development sites where this equally gorgeous and precious wood was destined for landfill or a burnpile. My personal credo when it comes to trees and subsequently my art making process is that nothing be killed, nothing be wasted.
