White Lines

De Kooning was the influence of this work, but I was also drawing on on art exercise I did with some of my early childhood students many years ago, where they were given a blank piece of Chinese water colour paper and a small jar of black ink. No instruction. The results from that art exercise were amazing. Although I've strayed from that complete freedom by constraining myself to De Kooning's process I've mixed it up a bit by throwing in some house paint, some metallic paint and deck stain and varnish to create some interesting contrasts and textures. A big nod to Pollock as well. Hope you like it :)

I was an early childhood teacher for many, many years, and drew so much inspiration from the art of the children I taught. Children are free of the constraints of what is right or wrong in art, what is correct or incorrect. They approach art with speed, freedom and joy. My art strives to capture that essence, that freedom, that joy. My work invites one to feel and connect in a way that is hard to put into words, but easy to explore with the eye.

My background is in eduction, music, and the dramatic and creative arts. I'm multi disciplined, with a thirst for knowledge, new ideas and approaches . I draw inspiration from anywhere and everywhere.
