I am a storyteller at heart. A modern day Sheherazade. An alchemist transforming paint into truth.
I pursue elusive answers to questions that we are afraid to ask.
My content evolves from my process, the meaning accumulates from making.
Influenced by living in different countries and by extensive traveling, overcoming adversity and uncertainty, I feel compelled to share my experiences: everything deserves a second glance, life is too precious to ignore or waste. The overreaching repeated theme in my art is the expression of emotions and feelings.
As diverse as my background are the media and materials, I use to express myself: canvas, board and paper, charcoal with pastels, acrylic and pens, inks with collage and monoprints. I am a mixed media artist. The sizes vary depending on my intention.
I like to work in series. They are chapters in my artistic book. This approach helps me to bring focus to my art practice.
My story book so far contains several chapters:
“Fernweh” (exploring imaginary and real landscapes)
“finding it” (following my intuition and chance in finding “things/animals” on my canvas, as shown in my available artworks).
“Stolen moments” (evocative abstract figurative pieces and portraits in saturated colours, inspired by my surroundings, by what I see and feel, touch and smell on markets and events, music festivals etc.)
I think being an artist is a journey. I learn and try out and play and paint and learn and try out…It’s a delight and a joy if someone sees my art and feels touched by it. Then I feel a connection with the world.
