Artwork Description

I was inspired to paint this work after visiting the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. It was such a peaceful spot and the calming, beauty of nature shone through.

Artist Bio

Since childhood I have loved to draw and paint. I am largely self-taught, and studied art in Year 12 and first year Fine Art at the University of Melbourne, before switching to psychology. During university vacations, I worked at the National Gallery of Victoria. This allowed me to wander the Gallery at my leisure and my appreciation of art grew during this time.

After working for over 20 satisfying years as a clinical psychologist, I decided to return to my first love - drawing and painting - and to combine it with my love of animals and landscapes.

I am on Instagram and use photographs to draw custom portraits of treasured pets, landscapes, human portraits etc using various media, including pastel, oil and acrylic.  I work on commission and have sold work at exhibitions.

I have been a member of the Victorian Artists’ Society for many years and frequently exhibit my work. I have studied under Shirley Straford, Barbara McManus, both of whom are prominent teachers of art. I have studied pastel landscape painting with Cathy Van Ee. My most recent teacher has been Ron Reynolds in Templestowe, Vic.
