Artwork Description

I love Chakra Dance music and often play it while I'm painting. The brush seems to take on a life of it's own at times - and I love the end results where the energy and positive vibes come through onto the canvas. The colours are a little subtler in this artwork - yet it still feels strong with the loose brushstrokes and markings that have evolved during the process.

Artist Bio

My inspiration comes from many places. I love to travel and I'll always come home with lots of sketches and ideas.
It's not just the people, but also the "colours" of the countries that I visit that end up on the canvas.

Wherever I go I love to wander around the markets.

The Ubud Markets in Bali is one of my favourites - very early every morning the Balinese ladies sit around surrounded by baskets full of brightly coloured flowers and fruits, chatting
happily away while selling their wares to the locals to make their daily offerings.
I love India - the flower markets bursting with colour - and the bustling fabric markets with the market stands and shops brimming with shiny beads and walls of amazing fabrics and saris. Just a riot of colour !!

It's the "essence" of the subject rather than the reality that I love to capture.

I'm currently exploring the wonderful world of abstracts. Allowing the power and energy of the paint to flow freely and dictate
what ends up on the canvas is a constant challenge, and the moment it all starts to come together is really exciting.

I don't try and analyse what I do or why I do it. I find that the answers or reasons tend to present themselves sometime after the painting is finished.
