Artwork Description

The classical beauty of formal art was my influence. The depth of the shadows in Apples Three was achieved by layering many coats of transparent primary colours- Viridian Green, French Ultramarine Blue, and Alizarin Crimson to produce a glowing darkness with no use of black - a slow process as each coat must dry -chiaroscuro as it was known centuries ago.

Artist Bio

I am a visual artist living in Perth, Western Australia. I paint mostly in oils on canvas, gouache on paper and acrylic and have been exhibiting for about 20 years. I have attended numerous short courses and workshops as well as Charles Sturt University summer school for 3 years.
I have been in many club exhibitions, 4 combined exhibitions with one other artist, 3 solo exhibitions and currently paint with a plein air group (painting on site) in Perth and surrounds.
My paintings are influenced by the colours of the semi- tropics of Brisbane where I grew up and my subjects vary from my love of observing people, the bush, and cityscapes, especially at night.
