Evening Descends

This small painting was done en plein air, on site, in untouched wild bush land. As evening approached the colours of trees and sky changed quickly. I wanted to capture that special, fleeting, magical moment with thick spontaneous glumps of paint.

I am a visual artist living in Perth, Western Australia. I paint mostly in oils on canvas, gouache on paper and acrylic and have been exhibiting for about 20 years. I have attended numerous short courses and workshops as well as Charles Sturt University summer school for 3 years.
I have been in many club exhibitions, 4 combined exhibitions with one other artist, 3 solo exhibitions and currently paint with a plein air group (painting on site) in Perth and surrounds.
My paintings are influenced by the colours of the semi- tropics of Brisbane where I grew up and my subjects vary from my love of observing people, the bush, and cityscapes, especially at night.
