After many years working in the fields of Education and Community Programs both private and government I now pursue my first and true passion which is art.
I started painting and studying watercolour and I now also work in acrylics and mixed media. My main interest is modern botanical art and illustration and I am dabbling in surface pattern design, which provides another opportunity to use and promote my art. I am passionate about nature, loving especially flowers, plants and trees.
In Nov 2021 I participated in the Tasmanian Tourism initiative- TAMOH (Tasmanian artists and makers of the Huon) Open Studio Trail. This was a wonderful experience and I was delighted to see many of my artworks going to new homes and to hear that my art lifted peoples energy and mood. I was heartened by comments from people saying my paintings were " uplifting, vibrant, cheery, beautiful " - this is what I hoped to achieve, I want my art to bring joy.
In October 2022 I participated in the Artists and Makers of the Huon trail which was again great fun and also proved to be an opportunity to meet other artists in the area.
Born and raised in Adelaide South Australia I moved to Queensland for 9 years and to Southern Tasmania at the end of 2019. The Huon Valley is a very peaceful and beautiful place which provides endless inspiration for my art. Here I have set up a simple studio in our pretty cottage which has spectacular water views of the Huon River and forest views. I look out my studio window to see blue wrens and crimson robins, it is a delight. I am often out and about with my camera photographing flowering gums, wildflowers and endless clouds which I use as reference photos.
