Stare out to sea with this one. Deep and textured, the two artworks can sit together as one piece or aside each other as two. Just like the ocean and the sky, are they one? Moody but calming, get lost in the texture and the detail with random strokes dabs and drags. Nonsensical but complete.
Double thick canvas 380 cotton duck finished with Atelier satin varnish.
Christopher J March is a visual and sculptural artist based in the Adelaide Hills on Peramangk country.
Using varied mediums, his work is a contemplation of the world around us. Growing up on a remote farm on Eyre Peninsula, his work in Field Ecology and travel around Australia have found him everywhere from The Gammon Ranges to Lake Eyre, from the Murray to the McArthur, desert to mangrove, from river to oceans โ in drought, in flood, in fire.
โI like to envelop myself in the emotion of a landscape; a feeling, a smell, a destination. A view from a different perspective, under water, from a boat, from above, from below, a journey into a horizon. A portal, a reflection, a door way. Earth water and sky.โ
Nature inspired art. Sometimes itโs where we have been; a memory. Sometimes itโs where we would like to go; an ideal. Something that evokes a different feeling, emotion or interpretation from each viewer. Chris enjoys exploring contradiction - light with darkness, busy with space, simplicity from a distance and complexity on closer inspection. Enjoy the immersion in considered spontaneity and meticulous mayhem.
