Artwork Description

Using my old school architectural drawing skills, I created this working drawing style artwork. This drawing documents the 4.5 metre high, 10 Ton fossil sculpture I created along the Queensland Coast at a place called Tannum Sands in 1999. My drawing style was inspired by DaVinci's anatomy sketches. I wanted to capture the work in a 2 dimensional medium other than photography

Born: August 1967 -Brisbane Australia

Trotter’s professional art practice began in 1990 exhibiting in galleries along the east coast of Australia. However by 1994 he found himself focusing on the creation of multi scaled public artworks.
Using his architectural training and knowledge , Trotter has produced works that are innovative and engaging. Not only does he create high impact art pieces, he also has the ability to create intimate discovery works that engage and delight. His works can be stand alone sculptural pieces, as well as works that are built into the very fabric of a building and perform a function.

Since 1994 Trotter has created over 40 public works for government, councils, universities, and developers. Many works have been commissioned as high impact tools for the promotion of cultural tourism.

Trotter has exhibited extensively though Regional Queensland since 1992
In 2001 and 2003 he had solo exhibitions in Tokyo and more recently World Expo - Shanghai 2010.

Trotter states:
“While working with found objects over the last 25 years, I have found myself drawn to, and engaging with a broad cross section of forms from varying industries such as farming, automotive, industrial, marine and aviation.
Certain shapes have provoked different creative responses at different points in my career.
The interaction of objects with nature, man and time, are of particular interest.
