Drawing on paper
Signed on the front.
This work is about time, landscape and story. It was born from a scene I drive past everyday: an overgrown paddock where an old house is gradually falling down and becoming part of the landscape. Beyond the house and the paddock, looms the escarpment, wild and rugged. This drawing is not a direct representation of the scene, but rather an embellishment, an imagining, an attempt to capture an atmosphere or memory.
Layers of oilstick and charcoal, rubbed back and worked over again, produce texture and movement. These, together with fine, detailed pencil markings create an almost whimsical atmosphere.
