This piece was painted with leftover paint from other projects and leftover memories of childhood camping trips to Girraween National Park outside Stanthorpe with my grandparents. We took an old Range Rover and had a huge green canvas tent which was some years the brownest, most dull-coloured thing there and some years it was the brightest colour against the bush in drought.
I love the Granite Belt, the National park and the adjacent wine country…we used to go several times a year before children and I really do hope to escape there again soon…it’s a marvellously safe and sacred place for me.
I hope the mystery, excitement, imposing ruggedness and untouched beauty of Stanthorpe and Girraween make a wonderful statement on your walls with this abstract Australian landscape artwork.
This artwork is perfect for those who like calming, neutral colours paired with wildly detailed textures.
