This abstract painting was inspired by the birds of paradise plant with it's incredible flowers of orange hues, with some blue, purple and green. The garden was a source of inspiration. I also wanted to play with colour in this painting and let the pink background be a key feature, painting the background in last to give this effect.

Artist Bio
I’m a Brisbane based painter and paint still lifes featuring flowers. I paint both life-like, neat floral arrangements and looser, more painterly compositions. I also dive between neutral and bright palettes. I love using thick paint and painting shadows in my still lifes.
I have always created art when I can. I have recently gone through cancer treatment and while it has been hard it has allowed me to give time to my art. Another silver lining was all the love and support I received, partly in the form of flowers. I began painting them and my love for painting flowers arose!
I’ve spent plenty of hours painting alongside my creative mum, Jane, who taught me how to paint. You can also see my mum’s art on Bluethumb, search Jane Griffin.
I have a consistent painting practice, painting daily, or several days a week. Acrylic is my preferred medium, but I also paint in oils and watercolour. I paint both small and large scale paintings and enjoy it all.
