Claire Lara is a visual artist based in Perth, Western Australia. Raised in the tranquil Hills in the east of Perth, Claire’s artistic journey began in childhood—her hands always busy with pencils, sketching ballerinas, dresses, and princesses swirling in imaginative elegance. That early fascination with beauty, movement, and magic has stayed with her, evolving into the dreamlike, emotionally resonant work she creates today.
Claire’s passion for art was formally recognised during her school years, earning the Award of Distinction for Art and Photography in Years 11 and 12. Her final high school piece was selected for the Year 12 Perspectives exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia, showcasing the state’s emerging talent. She later studied at TAFE and trained through the Milan Art Institute, further refining her technique and artistic voice.
Drawing inspiration from nature, memory, emotions and the quiet poetry of everyday life, Claire’s work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with their sense of wonder. Her art explores the purity and innocence that so often gets lost in the noise of modern life, offering a return to peace, presence, and joy instead. Through her ethereal textures and vibrant colours, she creates layered, mixed-media pieces that whisper of fleeting moments and emotional truths.
“My artwork touches the innocence within all of us, and connects us back to our joy.”
-Claire Lara
Her studio—a leafy sanctuary under a century-old gum tree—is nestled in her backyard garden, where she creates.
Looking ahead, Claire envisions a future filled with travel, creative collaborations, and immersive workshops that merge story, poetry, and art. Her work is not just about what’s seen, but what’s felt. A gentle invitation back to the essence of who we are.
