Many moons

This painting was done in a share house I was in that had 6 other people in it. Once a week some of us would get together for drinks, nibbles and card games. During this time I would often pull my paints out and get inspired from wherever the conversation wandered.
It was my first time using a round canvas which provided a new experience and opportunity to use the curves to guide the painting.

Hi, my name is Claire, I’ve been painting and drawing since i was 7 when I won a competition with the local council.
Most of my adult life I have struggled with severe mental health issues so have attended art therapy as part of inpatient programmes with a certified art therapist. Up until now I have kept my artwork private but I would like to share some of it, in the hope people can feel the emotions that have been embedded into my work.
I usually use oils or acrylics but have started to experiment with watercolours and various techniques. While my work is still quite raw I am learning about using large canvases and framing paintings on textured paper.
I currently work as an assistant in nursing at an aged care facility which despite its challenges is very rewarding.
