Near where I live is a sandstone house built around 1840, originally as a farmhouse with kitchen garden. There is a pear tree nearby which I'm sure was originally part of the garden. The fruit it bears (although often eaten by flying foxes and possums) is small and inedible but it gave me inspiration to capture all aspects of the tree but adding a William pear in my artwork as it seems impossible to get a mature fruit from this tree because they are always eaten by wildlife. I'd love to know the true history of this little pear tree. The framed original of this artwork hangs on my wall at home (see photo).
